grownups don’t exist

I was born in Leningrad, in the Soviet Union in 1985.
Everybody were communists. We were Jews.
We ‘ascended’ (that’s what you say in Hebrew) to Israel in 1990.
Us and 2 million people just like us. Jews.
Everybody were Jews. We were Russian.
For a while… Until we became Israelis.
I learned Hebrew. I lost friends to bombs. I was a soldier.
Everybody were soldiers.
I came to the United States of America in 2008.
I Became an American citizen earlier this year.

I’m a Russian Israeli American. Ethnically Jewish, twice immigrant.

Here’s the thing..
the more places you visit or cultures you get familiar with,
the more you realize how high the heaven is for everybody and how the emperor is not just far away but rather nowhere to be found.
